YAS Launches Fuel the Future for National Mentoring Month

Youth Ambassadors of Service hosts a January event series focused on mentorship, youth leadership, and sustainability.

This January, Youth Ambassadors of Service (YAS) is recognizing National Mentoring Month with a new Fuel the Future campaign focused on youth leadership, mentorship, and long-term sustainability.

National Mentoring Month was established in 2002 by MENTOR: A National Mentoring Partnership to highlight the importance of mentorship and its role in supporting young people. In alignment with this national initiative, YAS is launching Fuel the Future, a movement dedicated to elevating youth voices while preparing the organization for its next three years through strategic planning and community engagement.

“At YAS, mentorship is at the core of everything we do,” said Sonali Ratnasinghe, Founder and Executive Director of Youth Ambassadors of Service. “Fuel the Future connects the legacy of National Mentoring Month with YAS’s next chapter, bringing our community together as we plan for a sustainable, youth-led future over the next three years.”

Fuel the Future reflects a pivotal moment for Youth Ambassadors of Service as the organization finalizes its strategic plan and looks ahead with an emphasis on sustainability, impact, and intergenerational collaboration. We’re also using this time to launch new strategic partnerships and program initiatives. Throughout January, YAS invites students, mentors, families, educators, and community members to engage in events that center youth experience and strengthen mentorship across generations.

JANUARY 8 | Voices of Tomorrow 6:00–8:00 PMVoices of Tomorrow features YAS students sharing TED-style talks on issues that matter most to them, highlighting the impact of mentorship through personal stories and calls to action.

January 19 | Mentors Matter 12:00–2:00 PM

Mentors Matter is an interactive speed-networking event that brings together young people and adults to ask questions, exchange perspectives, and build meaningful connections through dialogue.

Community members are invited to participate in strategic planning conversations, offering insights and feedback to help shape the future direction of Youth Ambassadors of Service.
